How long will it take for me to receive my parcel?

+

If someone has sent you a parcel today and booked by 1pm, you’ll receive it by 8 – 9pm at the latest. We prioritise business addresses so we arrive before close of business; with residential we’re more flexible.

How do I track the parcel I’m receiving?

+

Once the parcel has been picked up by the driver, you will receive an email and SMS with the tracking links. Simply click through and you can track your parcel’s progress in real time. The magic of technology, right?!

The parcel I received is damaged, what do I do?

+

Please contact the sender if you have a damaged parcel. If it’s an issue with the delivery, we’ll work directly with the sender to resolve it for you.

My parcel couldn’t be delivered, what do I do?

+

If the driver is unable to leave the parcel, they’ll attempt to contact you and will wait for 5 minutes for you to respond before they leave. Please return the call as we will attempt to deliver again to you that day, or the next day. Our goal is to get the parcel to you, not to a depot or storage facility – so let us know your preferred delivery times. If you are not going to be available, you can also organise for us to send the parcel to a neighbour or left in an accessible, safe location near the drop off location. If we’re unable to deliver again after the second attempt or if you don’t contact us, then we’ll return the parcel to the sender.

How do I return my parcel to the sender?

+

Please coordinate return deliveries with the sender as they might not be using Deliver In Person for this service… yet 🙂

I’ve just ordered some alcohol – is there anything special I have to know about receiving my delivery?

+

Yep, there’s a few things! We’re legally only allowed to leave alcohol with an adult over the age of 18. They can’t be in a state of intoxication, and we’ll need them to sign for the delivery. We definitely can’t leave alcohol unattended – so please make sure an adult will be present and ready to sign! There may be other restrictions depending on which state you live in, so double check with your sender if you have any questions.

Who can send through Deliver In Person?

+

If you’re a business owner and interested in sending through Deliver In Person, please contact us. We deliver across greater Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane with generous volume discounts making our service even more cost effective. We’re also working on sending between individuals, watch this space.

How do I send my first parcel?

+

You can send your parcel through our online business portal (available for business customers only). If you are a business customer, please contact us and we will set you up with an account to start sending parcels. The sending process is easy – simply follow the prompts to fill in your details and payment method, and fill in the delivery details (e.g., pick up location, drop off location, special instructions, parcel dimensions). When you complete the order details, you will be directed to print the label, prepare your parcel, mark it as ready, and then a driver will be on their way to you right away!

How does pick up, drop off and delivery work?

+

Once your parcel is marked as ready, a driver will be on their way to you. They will follow your instructions to find the parcel(s) for pick up, which can be directly from you, or a designated part of your home, store or warehouse. The driver will scan each parcel, and then they will be on their way! When the driver arrives at the drop off location, they’ll deliver the parcel based on your instructions, and capture proof of delivery. You and the recipient will be able to track the location of your parcel live as the driver is delivering it, and also see the status of the delivery. Once the delivery has been completed, you will also be able to see proof of delivery.

What can I send?

+

We deliver any kind of parcel that doesn’t require special handling or immediate delivery within the hour (such as hot meals from restaurants, groceries containing cold products, loose fresh flowers, tobacco or hazmat). We deliver anything that can be delivered within an 8-hour period – general merchandise, alcohol, dry grocery pantry items, or frozen meals packed in insulated boxes. Parcels need to be less than 15kg, no more than 0.25 cubic metres, or 100cm on any one side.

Can my parcel be delivered today?

+

That’s what we do! Ensure to submit the job by 1pm. We’ll deliver your parcel on that day by 8pm at the latest to residential addresses, and by close of business for commercial addresses. Right now, our drivers can pick up anytime between 8am – 3pm (order cut off 1pm).

How can I integrate Deliver In Person with my website?

+

We currently have Shopify integrations ready, and more on the way! Please contact our friendly team to discuss integration options for your business.

Can I log multiple deliveries at once?

+

That’s what we’re best at – yes, you can send multiple deliveries to multiple locations. We will automatically group and assign the parcels to drivers accordingly. You can also send multiple parcels (up to 5) to one location. You can either log these manually, or upload a CSV file. Our support team can walk you through it.

Can I cancel a delivery once logged?

+

Yes, as long as the delivery hasn’t been accepted by a driver, you can cancel the delivery at no extra cost. If the driver has accepted the job and is on their way, you can still cancel the delivery but will need to pay a cancellation fee of 50%, so that the driver can be compensated for their time.

Do you deliver alcohol?

+

We definitely do, and we take compliance requirements seriously to protect your brand, in accordance with the specifics of your liquor licence and the state in which we’re operating. We require a signature on delivery from an adult over 18 who doesn’t appear intoxicated; we won’t leave alcohol deliveries unattended.

Who can sign up to be a driver?

+

Anyone can sign up to be a driver, as long as you meet our requirements. We’re currently taking expressions of interest – you can sign up by completing this form, and we’ll be in touch when we’re looking to hire!

How do I sign up to be a driver?

+

We’re collecting expressions of interest and will open active recruiting soon. Just fill in this form and we’ll be in contact as soon as we’re ready to go!

What are the requirements for driving with Deliver In Person?

+

When you deliver for Deliver In Person, you’re operating as an independent contractor. This means you’ll need to provide your own vehicle (car models 1990 onwards), fuel and relevant registrations and insurances. You’ll also need a valid driver’s licence, relevant identification documents, sole trader ABN, valid work rights and agree to complete a background check.

What kind of deliveries will I make?

+

You’ll be delivering general parcels. These parcels may weigh up to 25kg, but they are mostly under 10kg. Based on your vehicle type, we will ensure these parcels can safely fit into the space you have available. You will know the number and type of parcels for each job before you accept, so you can decide whether or not you can manage the load before you take the job. You won’t be delivering items that require immediate delivery or special handling, such as hot restaurant food, fresh flowers, tobacco or hazmat.

What happens if I’m unable to deliver to the recipient?

+

If you’re unable to deliver the parcel for whatever reason, and you haven’t been able to get in contact with the recipient within 5 minutes of attempting to phone them, you can let us know via the app and we will make return arrangements with you.

What happens if an item is damaged?

+

Please check the parcel(s) before loading them onto your vehicle. If a parcel appears to be significantly damaged, please inform the sender and take a photograph at the point of pick up. If a dispute arises after you have delivered the parcel, please ask them to contact us. In most cases, fair wear and tear from reasonable handling will be acceptable, and the sender needs to ensure that the parcel has been packed appropriately for general handling purposes.

How do I get paid?

+

Your earnings will be directly deposited into your bank account once a week, on a Wednesday or Thursday for the preceding week’s earnings. With Deliver In Person, you can earn approximately $50 per hour. You will see the potential earnings for each job prior to you accepting it.

What areas can I work in?

+

We’re active across the whole of metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. You can find out which suburbs we operate in by checking our Locations page.
